For just 270 euros, Canon delivers a solid telephoto zoom, which, however, has to do without a stabiliser. Nevertheless, the value for money is pleasing, as the EF 4.5-5.6/70-300 mm DO IS USM, a competitor from Canon with similar specifications, is clearly outperformed. But the EF 4-5.6/75-300 mm III USM's optical performance also decreases with focal length...

The Canon EF 4-5.6/75-300 mm III was tested and found to be particularly impressive with its high imaging performance and fast autofocus. Surprisingly, the 4x zoom is also designed for full-frame cameras despite its very affordable price. The lack of an image stabiliser is therefore forgiven.
