Product details

The new development of the EF 1:1.4/35mm L II USM is characterized by numerous advanced optical technologies. For the first time, a so-called BR element (Blue Spectrum Refractive) has been used, a new optical material based on organic compounds that has been newly developed at the molecular level. Its ability to strongly refract blue light helps reduce chromatic aberrations. The BR component is an integral part of a compound lens within the lens. In combination with Canon's lens coatings – including the SWC coating (Subwavelength Structure Coating) – the EF 1:1.4/35mm L II USM delivers results with optimized contrast and minimized reflections and ghosting. With its 35mm fixed focal length, the EF 1:1.4/35mm L II USM lens is suitable for reportage-style photography, making it a frequently used lens for photojournalists as well as sports and wedding photographers. The 9-blade iris diaphragm and high brightness of 1:1.4 make the lens equally suitable for low-light situations and for precisely controlling depth of field for portrait shots with attractive background blur. The redesign has reduced the minimum focusing distance from 30 to 28 centimeters, allowing for a magnification ratio of 0.21x. Thanks to the ultrasonic motor, the autofocus of the EF 1:1.4/35mm L II USM lens quickly sharpens on a new subject – and does so almost silently. As usual, the lens ring allows for manual focus fine-tuning at any time during photo and video shoots. Belonging to the Canon L series, the EF 1:1.4/35mm L II USM is designed for intensive use. It features dust and splash protection as well as a fluorine coating on the front lens for use in the harshest conditions.
