The Series 6 food processor not only kneads dough, it also helps with weighing and preparation. Unfortunately, the test meal at the trade fair was cancelled due to voracious journalists.

The Digitec and Galaxus editorial team will be reporting on site from IFA 2023 in Berlin. You can find all the news and background information published so far in our overview

IFA 2023: Our reports from Berlin

    by Luca Fontana

One croissant left on the tray. Bosch has baked for the journalists to demonstrate the qualities of the new Series 6 food processor. The German manufacturer has underestimated the appetite of the press representatives. Anyone who didn't jump on it straight away was left empty-handed.

And if you want to take a quick photo of the really beautifully shiny pastries, you run the risk of them being snapped shortly after you press the button. Me, that is. At least my colleague had just enough self-control to let me finish the photo. So the test meal has to be postponed. At least my colleagues confirm with relish that the croissants are very fluffy and taste good. Thanks for the information. I don't begrudge them a bit.

Eating alone doesn't work anyway. Someone has to do the work. So here are all the details about the new Bosch Series 6 food processor, but first the photo of the croissant - all I have left.

The highlight: The last croissant was snatched and eaten immediately after this photo was taken.

The machine kneads like a human

Let's start with the 1600 watt motor. This is primarily there to stir or knead dough with one of the three attachments. You can choose between a dough hook, a whisk or a flexi whisk.

The kitchen appliance attempts to imitate human movements. It moves in all dimensions. Not just round and round, but also up and down. Bosch calls this 3D PlanetaryMixing.

The Bosch Series 6 food processor can knead up to 3.7 kg of dough at a time.

The manufacturer has also installed a sensor that precisely monitors the consistency. And the machine stops when the dough is fully kneaded. There are seven programmes. For example, also for complicated yeast dough. The Series 6 food processor takes over the process completely independently: It kneads, lets the dough rest, continues kneading - until the yeast dough is perfect for further processing.

More than just kneading dough

The Bosch kitchen appliance can do more than just knead. It has integrated scales. You can pour ingredients directly into the bowl to the nearest gram. Even liquids such as oil or milk can be weighed correctly. And if you have a US recipe with quantities in ounces (oz), you can set this too.

The machine can be precisely adjusted via the touchscreen.

In the Home Connect app, you will find recipes with step-by-step instructions that also show you exactly what you need to set if no suitable automatic programme is available. The appliance can also whip cream or blend smoothies - in case you need to take a break from baking.

Unfortunately, when it comes to availability, it's like croissants: you have to be patient until they are available. The Series 6 food processor will not be launched on the market until March 2024. At a price of 799 euros and probably also Swiss francs. At least you can then bake for the big family celebration: 3.7 kilograms of cake dough, 2.9 kilograms of yeast dough or 2.5 kilograms of bread dough are possible in one go.
