Gaggia New Classic
Gaggia New Classic
A small, handy bitch!
But a bitch that can make really, really good espresso. If you "chüderlet" it the right way.
To get the bitch to make a good espresso, i.e. to "chüderlet" properly, you have to strictly follow the procedure of the coffee makers! Here is the link to the Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch
If you follow this procedure, 9 out of 10 espressos will be good to very good. That's how it is for me.
I can't say anything about making coffee with coffee pods or pre-ground coffee because I don't have any and I'm not interested in it.
Frothing milk takes some getting used to. It usually works quite well. BUT..... it sometimes seems as if the little bitch spits in your milk....... ;-)
Apparently, when the very small boiler is emptied and refilled, it can happen that suddenly no steam comes out but water at high pressure............ the mess is not particularly refreshing..... :-(
Commissioning is very simple and relatively well explained in the documents.
The water level is relatively easy to see.
Water can be conveniently refilled from above.
Conclusion: Price/performance is very good!
Considering the price, I can live very well with the weaknesses mentioned in the positive/negative sections.
The result, the really delicious espresso, makes it easy for me to recommend the machine.

My grinder: Baratza Sette 270Wi
There is no substitute for a very high quality grinder! A luxury portafilter machine is clearly replaceable by the Gaggia New Classic for me!
My spares:
-IMS Competition precision shower strainer (nano-quartz coated).
-IMS Competition rimless strainer
VST Profi rimless sieve
-Moka Consorten Tamper 58.5 convex

This is my first portafilter machine. I chose it because it seemed easy to use, compact, not plastic and well built. All in all, it has scored well so far and I can now even brew acceptable coffee (still need some training).
The only disappointment is the plunger, which doesn't match the quality of the machine (plastic handle bounces a bit).
I also wouldn't mind if the drip tray was deeper and I could use higher cups.
I recommend the machine for all those who need a chic machine in the kitchen and want to brew good coffee in an uncomplicated way.

Have bought this machine as a starter machine and regret (so far) nothing. Makes great coffee, quickly warm and quickly adjusted. but it is worth a good grinder to buy. Is of course a 1-circuit and when foaming milk you have to make certain sacrifices, but does this quite properly. Accessories are rather lousy, but for the price you get in my opinion nothing better.

Super machine!
The shortcomings of the last version have all been fixed (3-way solenoid valve, decent milk frother, etc.).
The machine warms up very quickly and is ready to brew coffee. Although it is a single-circuit machine, switching to steam mode is relatively quick. Switching back to brew mode can take a while, but if you let some steam and water out of the frother, it's also very quick.
As already mentioned, there is relatively little space under the plunger. If you want to use a scale, you might want to buy a bottomless piston (looks cool anyway)
