USG & UPC giga connect box - what is the procedure for commissioning? Can anyone give me a tip on how to proceed when commissioning the UGS? a) set the giga connect box to bridge mode b) Connect USG between existing "network connection Connect box and switch c) Configure the USG, what do I have to pay special attention to? d) What have I forgotten? --> is this sufficient? --> What IP address does the giga connect box have in bridge mode? --> What IP address do I assign to the USG? --> Do I continue to connect the telephone to the giga connect box? Greetings and thanks Stefan

1. switch UPC Connect Box to Bridge mode
2. connect the telephone to the UPC Box again.
3. connect the UPC Connect Box to the USG via LAN 1.
4. configure USG correctly or play up suitable firmware setup.

If it is a USG-60 I can send you a suitable image that is fully configured.

I have left the UPC Box in "Router Mode" (but deactivated both 2.4 and 5 GHz WLAN). The default address of the box is 192.168.0.1.
DHCP starts at 192.168.0.10, this is the address the USG gets assigned (as external IP). Internally, you should therefore select a different network (192.168.1.x, for example).

Hello Stefan
I can only answer the question for Swisscom Internet Box. I operate both the Internet Box (switched off WLAN) and the USG as completely separate networks. Behind the USG hangs a 24 port switch with my entire infrastructure including 3 Ubiquity PoE access points and Swisscom TV. The telephony is connected directly to the Internet Box. I do not use Bridge Mode. In order to be able to use the CloudKey and my NAS from outside, I had to configure both firewalls (Internet Box and USG) appropriately.
You can find a lot of helpful information on Google under the keywords UPC and firewall / router.
Good luck
Stephan

Hello Stefan,

I don't have UPC but Quickline, but it should be similar. I did it exactly like you:
1) Bridge mode for the box. QL gives max 3 IP addresses via DHCP, one gets the box, another the USG.
2) Install CloudKey or install the software on a computer.
3) Adopt USG
4) USG obtains its IP from provider via DHCP. USG acts as a local DHCP server for the network.
5) Phone remains on the box

Does this help?

Good luck!
