With Power over Ethernet, you can power compatible devices through the network cable. This particularly reduces cabling efforts for end devices like wireless access points, IP phones, and IP cameras, while also providing high flexibility in device placement. The IEEE 802.3at standard offers a maximum of 25.4 watts of power on each PoE+ port with a voltage of up to 50 volts. The standard assumes that after line losses, 21.90 watts of usable power remains or can be drawn to avoid exceeding the maximum power output. For PoE+, a Cat5e/6 cable with a maximum length of 100 meters is recommended.
