    Bad buy deluxe

Unfortunately, this part somewhat maltreats the product category NAS and what is generally understood by it. WD's choice of "Cloud" as the name for NAS systems was a glorious second. This really is *pure* cloud storage. Intended as a replacement for Dropbox & Co. but quite misleading as the "real" models are also called that. Without HOME's own app, nothing works, really nothing. Strictly speaking, it is a network attached storage, which is what my USB stick shared in the network would be.

Useful at most for unsuspecting senior citizens.

After just one week, this NAS was returned to me. What it has to offer is ridiculous. And the Windows app... I haven't seen anything so buggy in a long time.

    Pro

    • Okay for people who only upload and download documents.

    Contra

    • No path in Windows
    • The desktop app is ridiculously useless and buggy
    • Automatic folder backup does not work
    • the NAS is not recognised during the general PC backup.
    • No FTP

Idea and design as well as the size i.O, the access not!

The cloud drive I use for my movies, the only problem is only without app from WD I can not access the movies via tablet or the Plex app on the Sony TV. In Windows I see the storage as a drive. One star deduction because I can not access the drive with the IP address, and I am forced to install an app.

    Pro

    • Format of the case, fits everywhere
    • Fast WD Red hard drive in my case 8GB
    • Also available with two hard drives
    • Easy setup and data transfer also via USB

    Contra

    • No access via IP address directly to the hard drive possible!

Pretty unprofessional hobbyist solution. May be enough to store a few photos or films, but not for serious use.

It depends on what you expect from a NAS. Managing data or better folders on MyCloud only really works for the administrator. If, for example, you have employees with whom you want to share documents in a small company, this only works via the bumpy, unergonomic web solution; in the file manager, despite assigning the necessary rights, none of the folders are displayed, or only those that the employee has created himself, but no one else can see them (despite assigning the corresponding rights).

    Pro

    • Easy to install

    Contra

    • described above
