For relatively little money, Nikon's entry-level D3500 offers a lot: a very good sensor, high speed, many smart functions, a very long battery life and a large display. Nikon's SnapBridge technology is ideal for permanently pairing smartphone and camera. However, if you want a flip-up display with touch function or special flash modes, you have to look a class higher.
- Very simple operation
- High image quality
- Small sensor
- No 4K video
The small and lightweight SLR camera is just right for beginners: those who don't want to bother with the camera settings can simply set the full automatic mode or let themselves be guided by the guide mode. The autofocus is much faster than in the previous models and is therefore perfect for snapshots. Less great is the small viewfinder.
- Solid picture quality
- Sufficiently high speed for continuous shooting and autofocus
- Compact and handy housing
- Understandable guide mode
- Long battery life
- Neither touchscreen nor UHD video
- Very simple operation
- High image quality
- Slow for series
- No 4K videos
