This means the camera can focus in just 0.18 seconds, even at -5.5 EV, making it versatile, precise and incredibly fast. With the X-Processor 4, the camera is also able to efficiently use an updated focus tracking algorithm to keep subjects in focus when using the Tracking AF and Face/Eye AF functions.

Compact 5-axis in-body stabilization with up to 6 levels of vibration reduction

The GFX100S features a newly developed in-body image stabilization system (IBIS) that dramatically expands the photographer's ability to shoot handheld with confidence. Compared to the unit in the FUJIFILM GFX100, the IBIS mechanism inside the GFX100S is 20% smaller and 10% lighter. Despite this reduction in size, the five-axis system offers CIPA-certified image stabilization of 6 stops - an improvement of 0.5 stops over the GFX100.

Handy and protected against the elements

At 900g and measuring 15cm wide, 10.4cm high and 8.7cm deep, the compact body of the GFX100S is comparable to the mass of many full-frame cameras. Despite its compact size, it is still able to accommodate a powerful IBIS and a 102MP image sensor that is almost twice the size of a typical full-frame sensor. The GFX100S features a redesigned shutter and a brand new IBIS unit, while taking advantage of a smaller but very efficient lithium-ion battery. The result is a camera body that's about 6cm shorter and 500g lighter than the GFX100, but offers the same level of photo and video performance despite its smaller size. The smaller size of the GFX100S is offset by a very sturdy grip that feels comfortable in the hand and makes it easy to hold the camera for long periods of time.

The GFX100S is designed to operate in temperatures as low as -10°C and is dust and moisture resistant. The body is made of magnesium alloy and is 1mm tighter around the lens mount than the GFX100, providing extra support for larger G-mount lenses.

Intuitive controls for a familiar experience

The GFX100S features controls that will be familiar to both new and existing GFX system photographers. The PASM dial with six programmable options provides quick and direct access to commonly used settings, while a switch next to the mode dial allows quick switching between photo and movie modes. An ergonomic update to the focus lever makes selecting the focus point simple and fluid.

The camera features a 3.2-inch LCD monitor on the back and a 1.8-inch sub-LCD monitor on the top that can be set to display important EXIF settings - such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity and exposure compensation - and show the status of important functions or available memory capacity. The 3.2-inch touch-sensitive LCD is a 2.36-million-dot monitor with 100% coverage that can be tilted in three directions (90° up, 45° down and 60° to the right).
