These are the best new AI features from Samsung

Samsung has not only unveiled new hardware, but also some new software features. All of this under the buzzword Galaxy AI - the term "artificial intelligence" is now used as a buzzword for all sorts of things. Which isn't a bad thing as long as the application is really useful in everyday life. I have put together a list of the new Samsung features that do just that.

Note Assist: translation and transcription from your pocket

The Koreans are turning their note-taking app for Fold and Flip into a real office assistant. You can easily format your notes automatically, translate them or summarise them. If you don't want to type, you can also record voice messages directly in Notes. These are transcribed immediately and can also be translated and summarised if required.

You can also open a PDF, image or graphic in the app and have the text in it translated. It is superimposed directly over the original so that the context is not lost.

Composer: Formulated in your words

If you use the Samsung keyboard to type on your smartphone, you will now be supported by Composer. It can write entire texts for emails, social media apps or messages from individual keywords. On social media, the composer even analyses the latest posts and adapts to your style.

Interpreter: Perfect use of the two screens

Note Assist and Composer naturally also cut a fine figure on other Samsung smartphones. The new translator, however, is optimised for Fold6 and Flip6. It can use the external and internal display of both folding phones at the same time.

You can place the devices on the table so that everyone has a good view of one of the two displays. This way, everyone can comfortably see the translation, even if they are sitting opposite each other. There is now also a special mode for lectures or presentations. The application continuously translates everything live, so you can almost read along with subtitles on your Samsung phone.

Live Translate also transcribes and translates telephone conversations. This has already worked with the Samsung phone app and is now being extended to popular messaging apps from third-party providers. However, Samsung has not yet revealed which ones these are.

ProVisua Engine: image editing made easy

Samsung is offering three different new tools for photo and video editing. Photo Assist is specially designed for the large screen of the Fold6 and simplifies image editing. Portrait Studio uses AI to transform photos into various variants, such as a 3D cartoon or a painting. Incidentally, images altered with artificial intelligence are always labelled with a visible watermark.

Instant Slow-mo turns every video into a slow-motion recording. To do this, the AI adds individual frames so that the recording still looks smooth and doesn't jerk. I'll have to take a closer look at how well this works in a tested version.

Galaxy Buds 3: headphones as translator

If you use the new Galaxy Buds 3 Pro with a Samsung smartphone, you have various AI features right in your ear. Firstly, the microphone and the sound quality adapt to the ambient noise. In addition, the noise cancelling can also be adjusted so that it adapts to the volume all around.

Secondly, you can activate Real Time Translations. This means you can hear the translation in one of 16 languages directly through your headphones - more or less live. I wasn't able to try out whether this really works in everyday holiday life at the keynote event
