A new appliance from Philips aims to take the horror out of red wine stains on the sofa or muddy footprints on the carpet.

You must always remove stains from textiles as quickly as possible. The deeper the stain penetrates into the fibres, the more difficult it is to get it out again. For all things that don't fit in the washing machine, Philips has developed the Wet Cleaner 3000.

The wet cleaner is designed to clean soft surfaces: from sofas and mattresses to carpets and car seats. According to the manufacturer, the standard nozzle supplied can effectively remove stubborn dirt. Philips relies on a combination of high suction power and a specially developed cleaning agent for the appliance.

Like a hoover - only with water

The 390 × 235 × 325 millimetre appliance works like a washing vacuum cleaner and uses the cyclone technology that you are probably familiar with from other hoovers. You clean the surface with fresh water and cleaning additive. According to the manufacturer, the fresh water tank holds 1.6 litres. The dirty water that is sucked in is diverted into a separate tank.

An auto-clean function allows you to clean the hose of the appliance after removing the stains. All you need to do is place the cap supplied on the nozzle and activate the function. The remaining dirty water in the hose is then sucked in.

The stain remover weighs around 5.3 kilograms and offers you an operating radius of more than six metres (1.6 metre hose length plus five metre power cable). The LED display guides you through the cleaning process and shows you when the dirty water tank needs to be emptied, for example.

Also for larger areas

Two attachments are included in the scope of delivery. The standard nozzle is 90 millimetres wide and is intended for spot removal of stains. The nozzle with a width of 150 millimetres is used for larger stains or cleaning mattresses.
