Nikon Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.4
Nikon Z, full size
The new fixed focal length from Nikon should find its way into many photo backpacks - it is light, very fast and still affordable.
Nikon has introduced a new fixed focal length for mirrorless full-frame cameras of the Z system: The Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.4 weighs just 415 grams despite its speed and measures 86.5 millimetres in length. It has a fast and quiet autofocus and a clickless control ring. The minimum focus distance is just 27 centimetres.
The lens is dust and splash-proof. According to Nikon, it offers high image quality and harmonious bokeh. Focus breathing is effectively prevented by an advanced optical design.
Despite the high speed, the lens is not part of Nikon's premium line with the "S" designation. It therefore costs less than the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S at its market launch. There, the recommended retail price was 1049 francs. The new Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.4 starts at 729 francs. The market launch is planned for mid-July 2024.
My fingerprint often changes so drastically that my MacBook doesn't recognise it anymore. The reason? If I'm not clinging to a monitor or camera, I'm probably clinging to a rockface by the tips of my fingers.
